Vortex flowmeter is a kind of volume flowmeter which can measure the volume flow rate of gas, steam or liquid, the volume flow rate of standard condition or the mass flow rate according to Karman's vortex principle. When using a vortex flowmeter to measure compressed air, the following points should be noted:

Considering the impact of vibration:

Compressed air is usually generated by air compressor or high pressure fan, which produces different degrees of vibration when running. This vibration may be transmitted to the vortex flowmeter through the connecting pipe, thus affecting its measurement accuracy.

The anti-vibration performance should be taken into account when selecting the vortex flow meter to ensure that it can still be accurately measured in the vibration environment.

In the installation of vortex flow meter, power equipment such as air compressor and fan should be kept away as far as possible to reduce the influence of vibration on the measurement.

Focus on small traffic:

The amplitude of the vortex signal is proportional to the flow velocity squared and density of the measured medium. In the case of compressed air, which is a pressurized gas, the lower limit flow rate will decrease as the density increases.

When selecting the type, it is necessary to consider the actual working condition flow to ensure that the vortex flowmeter can work accurately in the required measurement range.

Effect of pulsating flow:

The gas output of the fan and compressor usually contains a certain component of the pulsation. In addition, some gas equipment (such as air hammer, air tools, etc.) may also cause the pulsation of air flow.

The frequency and amplitude of such pulsation are random, which may affect the measurement accuracy of vortex flowmeter.

During the measurement process, the influence of pulsatile flow should be paid close attention to, and corresponding measures should be taken to reduce its interference to the measurement.

Installation requirements:

The installation of the vortex flowmeter requires a certain straight pipe section before and after to ensure the accuracy of the measurement.

The installation direction of the flowmeter should be consistent with the direction of the medium flow, usually vertical installation, and the medium through the flowmeter from the bottom to the top. If INSTALLED horizontally, ENSURE that the meter is installed in the high pressure area of the entire system and avoid installation at the highest point of the line.

When installing, it is also necessary to pay attention to the pipe diameter should be slightly greater than or equal to the inner diameter of the instrument, and the inner diameter of the sealing ring should also meet the corresponding requirements.

Other notes:

When measuring high temperature compressed air, special attention should be paid to the high temperature resistance performance and installation position of the vortex flowmeter to avoid damage to the meter caused by high temperature.

The vortex flowmeter should be installed in a position that is easy to maintain and overhaul so that it can be easily operated when needed.

In conclusion, when using vortex flowmeter to measure compressed air, vibration, small flow, pulsating flow, installation requirements, and other related factors should be comprehensively considered to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the measurement.
